About Goin' Feisin'
Looking back to 1999, I was invited to attend something called Riverdance. I remember thinking to myself, “How boring! A dance about a river?” Obviously, I had no idea what Riverdance was, and I had no idea that the Irish dance world existed. I fell in love immediately, and I remember lamenting that I hadn’t known about Irish dance as a kid, because I would have been all over that.
Fast forward ten years, and my daughter came home and told me that she had the opportunity to take an Irish dance class from a young lady who had just moved into the neighborhood. One class was all it took for her to become absolutely hooked. One year later, my daughter was invited to start training under a TCRG and start competing. Again, I had no idea that this whole world existed. Essentially, we have been trying to figure out what the heck is going on ever since.
Six months before starting this website, I quit my job as an environmental geologist to be a full-time, homeschooling mom of three children. I have a tendency to get bored if I am not busy all the time, and when I get bored, I stir up trouble. I took some website design classes. It was during a class project that I realized that there was a need for a more user-friendly feis schedule and this website was born. Again, I have been trying to keep up ever since. I have two dancers now, and I am constantly on the run, living the life of a feis mom, and continuing to get the chills every time I hear the pounding of the hard shoe. I hope to get a chance to meet many of you on the journey!
