Feis Buckets vs. Zuca Bags
I have been debating endlessly for the last few weeks. The great debate, you might wonder, is whether to make a feis bucket or purchase a Zuca Bag. It’s a tough decision!
The crafter in me wants to make a feis bucket. Something about the endless possibilities of fabrics and embellishments draws me in and begs me to spend money at the craft store. Unfortunately for the crafter in me, I am also a homeschooling mother of three children and all that entails. I’m busy!
Zuca Bags
In looking at my schedule between now and Oireachtas, I don’t think I’m going to have time to make a feis bucket. I think I have decided to purchase a Zuca Bag. A Zuca bag has all the benefits of a feis bucket, only pre-made, with an aluminum frame, and on wheels. I LOVE the on wheels part!
Did I mention you can sit on a Zuca Bag? Make sure if you are getting one that you get one with an aluminum frame!
There are a ton of other options available, including:
- Coolers
- Lunch Bags
- Seat Cushions

Feis Buckets
A feis bucket still looks like a ton of fun to make. For those of you who have never heard of a feis bucket, it is a 5-gallon bucket, such as those which can be found at any hardware or home improvement store, with a padded lid. It allows you to have a place to store all your gear and a place to sit without messing up your dress.
Instructions for making one can be found here.
A discussion on the merits of feis buckets, and some pictures can be found here. I love the pink one!
And because people have found a way to provide useful tools for just about everything… here’s a link to a Bucket Dolly (wheels for your feis bucket)! I love it!
I would like instructions on how to make a feis bucket.
